According to statistics released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics and published by the Real Estate Institute of Australia, the state of Victoria has roughly 13,903 real estate agents working for 6,955 real estate establishments.
Melbourne is the second-most populous city in Australia and Oceania, and also the most densely populated in the state of Victoria. In cities with big populations and so many estate agents, the sheer amount of choice that is available is often overwhelming and daunting, but filling out the form above can make selling your property much easier, no matter where you are in Melbourne.
Melbourne’s living waterfront
Located just 2 kilometres from Melbourne’s central business district, Docklands is a suburb surrounded by water on three sides. When the city of Melbourne was established, its founder John Batman set up house on Batman’s Hill in Docklands. The suburb was originally a wetlands area made up of a large salt lake and what was later known as the West Melbourne Swamp.
From the 1880s, the area became used as a dock, due to its proximity to the water. 2.3 million cubic metres of earth was used to fill in what was formerly the West Melbourne Swamp. Although the dock later fell into disuse, Docklands became the centre of a thriving underground rave scene in the 1990s, and an on-going urban renewal project later gave rise to contemporary Docklands.
Today, Docklands has a thriving community and a population of almost 11,000 people who have access to a variety of modern landmarks, among these the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel and the Etihad Stadium.
Docklands is a haven for water sports junkies, with Dragon Boat racing being a popular form of entertainment and recreation.
